“Smil in every aisle” is more like “rude and inconsiderate at every turn”!!!
I have had many experiences at the Algona, IA store that have left me upset/dissatisfied. One time I was not Able to get my groceries to the car so they had someone help me as this person was putting them in my car I had two bags@my purse left in the cart, the cart getter came out took my purse &the two bags set them on the ground&left I did not say anything at that time but I did call the store a few minutes later&manager said that the cart person was in training. I’m sorry but whether you are training or not it should be common sense you don’t touch someone else’s groceries unless you are the one helping them&NO EMPLOYEE SHOULD EVER TOUCH A PERSONS PERSONAL BELONGINGS SUCH AS A PURSE!!! There have been many times I have had bad experiences with a few of the employees. One tells us(I don’t know this lady at all,I can’t tell you her name,but recognize her from look)so if I don’t know her at all except when see her in store she shares very personal information that is uncalled for! She tells me/us(my husband goes shopping with me so he hears this also)when she’s on her period, when she’s cramping,& after she is done with us she will have to use the bathroom to change her tampon. This same employee tells My Husband very rudely that he needs to get new pliers(he wears them on his belt) because he will get electrocuted.Another time with a different person I went in to buy cough medication while checking out this person looks at me&says you don’t look sick you don’t sound sick what are you doing making meth? BTW My Husband was home sick&needed the meds. Another time the store was out of an item&asked them to check in back&they said they don’t do that, if it’s not on the shelf then youget a rain check.Some of the customer service counter employees are rude, argue with you,&then deny you service. I had an issue with a receipt & got told to go to customer service when I was there one of the ladies argued with me,was rude, then called a different manager to go check on the problem( which was an item ringing up more than it should have) turned out I was right,after that she got an attitude& told me she was refusing me service& that I would have to go to go through the regular checkout to get the refund. Due to the store being busy I had to wait in line an extra 30 minutes to get the refund. Plus this was a busy night&I had to wait an extra half an hour in the regular checkout to get the refund! These reasons & higher prices compared to the other store in town is why I only shop at Hy-Vee if it is an absolute necessity such as other store closed.
This was a quick stop, just a run-in run out, and I only bought four things out of the 5 things I needed I could not locate one item and the cashier couldn't tell me if they even had it.
I generally can always find what I need. The employees are a big help.
Fantastic customer service. Everyone always says hi. Although I was next in the checkout line, another cashier opened up for me
